“Add value to a life each day and touch somebody’s heart; then in this world you’re on your way to play a vital part.” ~ John Peitzman (JP)
Small things can touch someone’s heart. It takes but a moment to make a difference. Make the time. You’ll be surprised at how great you feel when you connect with someone, even for an instant.
Do you make eye contact with people you meet? Or share a smile when you pass them in the street? A smile to a stranger will bring one back, and often is passed on to others. You’ve touched someone. It’s that easy. Take it a little further. Supermarket queues are part of life. They can be so frustrating and seem such a waste of time. But a little chat with someone in that queue can make all the difference to the waiting – to you and to them.
It’s small things that touch people. Offering a seat to someone on a train. Holding a door open. Being courteous. It’s putting yourself in the other’s shoes for an instant. Being aware of their needs.
But if you spend all your time thinking of you, on social media, on your phone, ignoring people around you while you rush from one place to another, you’ll miss the moments where you could touch someone’s heart. You’ll be too busy to smile, hold a door, say hi, have a little conversation.
Helping others brings untold rewards. It opens your heart. It puts a smile on your face instead of a frown of concentration. It brings you an insight into the happiness of others – a privileged insight. And you never know how much you may have helped someone. So touch someone’s heart today – and every day. Your life will be immeasurably enriched.
